THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government had announced medical help for film actress KPAC Lalitha, who is undergoing treatment for serious liver disease. However, a lot of people came forward criticising it. Many questioned the government for giving lakhs to the film actress at a time when benefits are denied to the poor. Following that, Minister V Abdurahman told the media that there is no truth in the allegations. The minister said KPAC Lalitha don’t have much savings as people think and gets only a meagre amount from acting. He said the government decided to meet her medical expenses after she sought help for the treatment. The government had helped many ordinary people, he said.

The government cannot avoid artists because they are the property of the state. It is the same in the case of athletes and those from the cultural fields also. Whoever applies to the chief minister for medical help will be aided. The minister said the poor will also not be rejected. The minister requested not to stoke a controversy on this issue.
