Govt decided that KPAC Lalitha belongs to category that needs help, those having doubts can probe, says Suresh Gopi

ERNAKULAM: Suresh Gopi has said that KPAC Lalitha is being provided financial aid as the government has decided that she belongs to the category of those who need help. Suresh Gopi said that the financial assistance may be given because the application has been submitted to the government and that it is not right for him to opine on these matters of the government. Suresh Gopi told the media that if they have any doubts about the sincerity of the government, they need to find out the truth and it is wrong to gossip about it.

"Medical assistance is provided to artists from central government funds. I am helping 36 people every year with my funds. Financial assistance of Rs 2 crore 50 lakh has already been disbursed as of February this year", Suresh Gopi said.

The government had announced medical assistance to film star KPAC Lalitha, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital for a serious liver ailment. But many criticized it and questioned the government giving lakhs to a film actress despite the denial of benefits to the poor. However, Minister V Abdurahman had said that KPAC Lalitha does not have much money as some people think and that she was earning meager money through acting. The minister had explained that the government had taken action after receiving an application from the actress for help.
