marriage

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A groom withdrew from the marriage at a time when there were only a few minutes to solemnise the wedding. The dramatic events happened on Sunday at an auditorium in Venjaramoodu. A minor scuffle broke out between the relatives of the groom and the bride, after the former withdrew from the marriage. The situation was calmed after the police intervened in the issue.

The bride belongs to a place near Venjaramoodu. The groom, a cop, is from the nearby place. The two got engaged a year back. Many had seen them together in many places. Soon after the fear of Covid dropped, the families decided to get them married. They had invited all their friends and relatives for the marriage. Some from the groom’s side had attended the reception arranged by the bride’s family yesterday.

The groom and his relatives were given a grand reception this morning at the auditorium where the marriage was scheduled to take place. Some from both sides had the sadya also. Shortly, everything went topsy turvy. The groom threw the garland worn at the time of reception and shouted saying that he is withdrawing from the marriage. Some from the groom’s side stood with him. They said that a man from the Gulf called the groom and said that he is in a relationship with the girl and asked him to withdraw from the marriage. The police intervened and discussed things with both families. They parted ways on the understanding that they would bear the losses themselves and had no complaints.
