AMARAVATI: The death toll in the floods in Rayalaseema and Nellore districts of Andhra Pradesh has risen to 41. The death toll rose as six bodies were recovered from Rajampet mandal while two bodies were recovered from Chinnamandem mandal in Kadapa district this evening. Four deaths were reported from Nellore district this morning.
Authorities said the bodies of 15 people who died in the floods had already been handed over to relatives. However, three more bodies are yet to be identified at the Rajampet Government Hospital in Kadapa district. Two siblings, who tried to cross the Mandavya river, were washed away in the strong currents. Their bodies were later recovered near the Vandathi village. Two persons, including a police constable, were killed in Nellore district. About 44,275 people have been evacuated. According to government sources, 92 relief camps have been set up in Nellore district.
