THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Anupama, mother of the baby given for adoption without her consent, alleged that there is a possibility of sabotaging the baby's DNA test. It is not clear when the DNA test will take place. Anupama said they have not received any notification regarding this so far. There is a possibility of subverting the baby's DNA samples.

Such incidents have occurred before and so she raised the need to take their samples at the time the baby’s samples are taken. The DNA test should be absolutely transparent. Why hiding it again, asked Anupama.

The baby brought from Andhra Pradesh last night has been shifted to Nirmala Bhavan Child Care Centre. The CWC has to issue the order in the DNA test. Though Anupama gave a letter requesting to see the baby, it was not accepted. She has given a memorandum to the CWC and the Child Rights Commission seeking a medical test on the baby in her presence today itself. The memorandum asserted that this is necessary to ensure that no distortions occur after the DNA samples are taken. The results will be available within three days of the test.

The district child welfare committee on November 18 directed the child welfare council to bring the child back to the state. Meantime, the director of the women and child development department has called Anupama for a hearing this evening as part of the follow-up action on her complaint.
