SABARIMALA: With virtual queue bookings exceeding 30,000 per day until January 16th, the number of pilgrims allowed to visit the Sabarimala temple has been raised to 45,000. 40,000 people will be allowed to visit daily through virtual queue and 5,000 through spot registration.
Devaswom Board officials had requested the state government to increase the number of pilgrims to 50,000 per day. Kerala Kaumudi had reported about this. There are indications that there will be more easing of restrictions in the coming days. The issue was discussed at a review meeting chaired by Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan in Pamba on Wednesday. Preparations are in the final stages for the opening of the Neelimala-Apachemedu traditional route after a gap of 22 months. The route will be opened after adequate staffing at the Neelimala and Apachemedu Cardiology Centers. Taking into consideration the physical hardship of pilgrims, the government may permit them to stay at Sannidhanam.
