THRISSUR: On Tuesday morning, several reports had claimed that two youngsters from Irinjalakuda had died after consuming spurious liquor. However, the post mortem report stated that they died after consuming formalin. The deceased are Nishanth (43) and Biju (42), natives of Irinjalakuda.

It is believed that Nishanth might have consumed formalin after mixing it with alcohol, while Biju might have consumed the chemical after mixing it with water. Their internal organs were completely damaged. Police are investigating whether the two consumed the chemical accidentally or intentionally.

Thrissur Rural SPG Poonkuzhali said that a special investigation team will be formed to clear the mystery surrounding the incident. Police are also investigating whether anyone had mixed formalin in the liquor purchased by Nishanth.
