KOTTAYAM: Four persons were injured when an ambulance driven by a tender coconut seller hit them. The incident took place at Kattachira in Kottayam. He was driving an ambulance of Pala General Hospital. This evening, the ambulance driver of Pala General Hospital parked his vehicle in front of the place where tender coconuts were sold. The coconut vendor got into the vehicle to move the ambulance so as not to disrupt the trade.

However, due to an error in shifting gears, the vehicle went backwards instead of forwards. The ambulance crashed into an auto and two bikes stationed in the back of the vehicle. The overturned auto and bike were completely wrecked. Four people were injured in the incident. Police said no one was seriously injured. However, police said they have not yet caught the tender coconut trader who had fled the scene before police arrived.
