Flow of water decreases; Water level in Mullaperiyar dam reaches 141.95 feet

IDUKKI: There has been a slight decrease in the water level in Mullaperiyar Dam. The water level presently in the dam is 141.95 feet. Only one shutter of the spillway is open. The 144 cubic feet of water is discharged per second.

The amount of water carried to Tamil Nadu has also been reduced. It carries only 1200 cubic feet of water. The flow of water has also decreased. The water level had reached 142 feet yesterday evening. The shutters were opened without warning.

Tamil Nadu was opening the shutters at night and closing them when the water level drops slightly in the morning for more than a week. Meantime, the water level in Idukki Dam reached 2400.80 feet. Blue alert is continuing in the dam.
