Out on bail, Bineesh Kodiyeri dons black robe again, opens new law firm in Kochi

KOCHI: Son of CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Mr Bineesh Kodiyeri, who is back from jail is now nurturing a new ambition.

A year after he was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Bengaluru Zone, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, Bineesh Kodiyeri walked out of prison on Oct 30, 2021

He had been granted bail by the Karnataka High Court.

He has made public his ambition that he would be a full-time lawyer from now onwards. Past is past and now he would begin a fresh chapter in his life as a lawyer.

Bineesh also opened his new office with two of his friends in Kochi on Sunday.

PC George’s son Mr Shone George and son of former state election commissioner N Mohandas Mr Ninu Mohandas are in Bineesh Kodiyeri’s team of lawyers. All the three were classmates.

Assuming the new office, Bineesh told media that he took a decision regarding this two years ago. Bineesh had enrolled as a lawyer in 2006. But chose to opt for a different career.

“Two years back, I decided to turn full-time lawyer. But due to the COVID situation and other reasons, I could not pursue my passion. I hope I can perform better in this field,” said Binesh Kodiyeri.

He also opened up about his arrest and related controversies.

“I was arrested by ED officials on October 29, 2020. The arrest was recorded after summoning me for an interrogation. But I handled all situations in a mature way. I’m going through a lot of challenges in life. Many rumours are generated, targeting me. As the case is before the court, I can’t disclose anything about it. However, I have complete faith in the judiciary and it is for the court to decide whether I’m guilty or not,” he added.
