Retired college teachers' pension arrears must be paid within one week

KOCHI: The High Court has ordered to pay the revised pension arrears of aided college teachers, who retired after January 2016, from July 2019 to March 2021 within a week. The interim order of the single bench is on the petitions of the retired teachers. In case of default, 6.5 percent interest is payable. It should be deducted from the salaries of the concerned officers. The order also said that the government should give an affidavit within three weeks and a reply affidavit within four weeks on the payment of benefits as per the report of the Seventh Pay Commission.
