Woman succumbs to disease after husband opts for occult practices instead of medical treatment

kerala

NADAPURAM: In a tragic incident, a woman succumbed to her disease after her husband's alleged superstitious beliefs led to a delay in proper treatment. The deceased has been identified as Noorjahan (44), wife of Kallachi native Jamal.

It is learnt that Noorjahan died after Jamal subjected her to treatment through occult practices in Aluva instead of rushing her to the hospital. Jamal informed Noorjahan's mother about the death at 4 am on Tuesday. Police have registered a case of unnatural death on the complaint of Noorjahan's maternal nephew Faisal. In his complaint, Faisal alleged that Noorjahan died after being subjected to occult practices.

Noorjahan had first complained of a skin disease six months ago. However, instead of taking her to a hospital, Jamal subjected her to occult practices. Later, the woman's relatives came to know that she was in a critical condition. Following this, she was taken to a private hospital in Kozhikode. However, as Noorjahan's condition worsened the other day, Jamal took her to a place in Aluva for treatment through occult practices.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary of Vadakara District Hospital following a police directive. The postmortem will take place on Wednesday morning.
