NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has rejected Kerala's demand that Tamil Nadu should stop releasing water from the Mullaperiyar Dam at night without warning. The apex court said that the complaint against Tamil Nadu should be conveyed to the supervisory committee and that it was up to the supervisory committee to decide on the release of water. The court also said that Kerala and Tamil Nadu should not engage in a political war. Kerala told the court that the supervisory committee was not doing anything. The court has adjourned the hearing of the case to January 18.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has informed the court that it had duly informed Kerala before it opened the shutters of the dam at night.
