THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Higher Education Minister R Bindu has welcomed the High Court's rejection of a plea challenging the re-appointment of Kannur University Vice-Chancellor. "The court proceedings made it clear that the VC was entitled to continue. I cannot publicize the communication between the government and the Governor," the minister said. The minister, however, declined to comment further on the issue. She also responded that there should be no media trial on the issue.

Minister Bindu also said that it was not right to release the letter. "The Governor is of the same age as my father. I cannot openly respond about such a person who has vast experience than me. You should ask the governor about the dismissal of the search committee," she said.

The minister's response came hours after the high court dismissed the plea challenging the reappointment of the Kannur University VC. The high court, which clarified that Gopinath Raveendran can continue as Kannur VC, dismissed the plea on the ground that issues including age limit did not exist.
