KASARGOD: Kalpana Devi, a Bihar woman who spent five days wandering in South India and then spent 20 days in the shelter of Sneha Bhavan, is overjoyed to be back with her husband and three children.

It was The Kasargod Pink Police who paved the way for their reunion a few days back.

Sajid Pandit, a taxi driver is the husband of 30-yr-old Kalpana Devi. The couple has three young children. This poor family belongs to the area that lies within the Jagdishpur police station limit in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar.

Pink Police Nodal officer completed the formalities in the presence of Officer Kasargod District Crime Branch DySP P Satish Kumar Alakkal and bid the family adieu.

They went to a relative's house in Rajkot from Kasargod.

Kalpana disembarked the train at Kasargod railway station on December 7 morning. Sarala, Reshma, Bindu, Praveena and Praseetha were the pink police women who rescued and brought her to Sneha Bhavan at Padannakkadu.

Her husband’s name was found out from the Jagdishpur police station. There was no other identification document in the hands of the young woman who had left home on December 2. The police took the police station number from the net and passed on the information. On the same day, her husband Sajith Pandit had also approached the police station with a complaint that Kalpana was missing.

To take back her wife, Sajith came to Kasargod with his children Bhaskar Pandit (two), Sandhya (six) and Sakshi (eight).

Her husband, who was a taxi driver at the Delhi airport, had lost his job during Covid times, making life miserable for the poor family. It was during this time that Kalpana left home due to mental stress.

She had only with her a ticket taken from Surat railway station. The woman had arrived in Kasargod on a train via Konkan.

Kalpana's husband was traced by the Bihar police. It was due to the timely intervention of the Pink Police, the woman could be safely handed back to her kin. The family happily returned to Bihar, said Satish Kumar Alakkal (DYSP, Kasargod District Crime Branch).
