KOCHI: Police have arrested Jithu, who is accused of burning her sister to death inside house in Paravur. She was arrested from Kakkanad while in hiding. Police said the accused has confessed to her crime. Jithu told police that she stabbed her sister during a fight and after realizing she had died, burnt the body with kerosene. Jithu said no one had assisted her in the murder. But the police are not fully convinced about her statement. Jithu is a mentally challenged person.

Vismaya, Jithu's sister, was found dead with burns inside her house at around 3 pm on Tuesday. The gate was locked from the inside when locals arrived after seeing fire and smoke rising from the house. Police had received footage of Jithu walking down the road near the house. Police believe that Jithu reached Ernakulam by bus. She took Vismaya's mobile phone but it was switched off from time to time. Police conducted an extensive search for Jithu and had issued a look-out notice.
