Missing college lecturer found dead in Chaliyar River

MALAPPURAM: The body of the college lecturer who had been missing in the Chaliyar River has been found. He has been identified as Muhammed Najeeb (38) of Nilambur and a sports instructor of Amal College, Mailady in Nilambur.

He got trapped in the strong currents while having bath at the Mailady ghat in Chaliyar. His father and his brother-in-law got trapped in the strong currents. They were rescued by some people who were fishing there. The body of Najeeb was fished out in a search conducted.

Meantime, a search for three fishermen missing in Ponnani is continuing. Kalarikkal Badru, Jamal, natives of Azheekkal in Ponnani and Siva of Tamil Nadu are those missing. They ventured into the sea for fishing on Friday.
