Woman killed after truck rams into scooter

ALUVA: A woman was killed after a truck hit a scooter on the National Highway at Muttam. The deceased has been identified as Kollam native Akhila Raj (32). The accident took place at around 1.30 pm while Akhila was travelling on her scooter. Sources said that the truck's tyre ran over her head. Although Akhila was immediately rushed to a private hospital, she could not be saved. The body will be handed over to relatives after postmortem. Akhila is survived by husband Arun, children Sreebala and Sreeveni. The truck driver Sreejith was taken into custody by the Aluva police.
