Covid vaccination: Over 1 lakh children receive first dose, Thrissur records highest number of vaccination among 15 to 18 year olds

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George has announced that 1,02,265 children between the ages of 15 and 18 have been vaccinated against Covid in the state. Thrissur district has the highest number of children vaccinated with 20,307 teenagers taking the first dose. Alappuzha district came second with 10,601 people vaccinated and Kannur district came third with 9533 people vaccinated. With this, a total of 3,18,329 children were vaccinated in the state. So far, 21 percent of teenagers have been vaccinated with the first dose, she said.

Districtwise breakup:

Thiruvananthapuram 6899, Kollam 8508, Pathanamthitta 5075, Kottayam 7796, Idukki 3650, Ernakulam 3959, Palakkad 8744, Malappuram 6763, Kozhikode 5364, Wayanad 2161 and Kasaragod 2905.

There were a total of 1642 vaccination centres, including 963 vaccination centers for children and 679 vaccination centers for those over 18 years of age. 98.73 percent (2,63,70,231) of the population over the age of 18 years have been vaccinated with one dose and 81 percent (2,15,57,419) with two doses of the vaccine.

As part of the vaccination drive, which will continue till January 10, there will be special vaccination centres for children on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at district, general and taluk hospitals and community health centers and on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at primary and family health centers, the minister informed.
