Omicron cases rising in state, 76 more confirmed of disease, Omicron cluster in nursing college in Pathanamthitta

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George said 76 more people have been confirmed of Omicron in the state. 15 Omicron cases were confirmed in Thrissur, 13 in Pathanamthitta, eight each in Alappuzha and Kannur, six each in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Malappuram, five in Kollam, four in Kozhikode, two in Kasargod, one each in Ernakulam and Wayanad.

One from Tamil Nadu was also infected with Omicron. 59 came from low risk countries and seven from high risk countries. Nine contracted the disease through contact. Three in Thrissur and two each from Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam got the disease through contact. An Omicron cluster has been formed at a private nursing college in Pathanamthitta. They have contracted the disease from a student who came in contact with a person from abroad.

With this, Omicron was confirmed on 421 people in the state. 290 came from low-risk countries and 85 from high-risk countries. A total of 43 people were infected through contact. There are three from other states.
