Project cannot be executed by threatening public, HC criticises govt on Silver Line project

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court harshly criticized the government's dream project, the Silver Line project. The court made the remarks against the central and state governments over a bunch of pleas filed against the project.

The court said they would not permit laying big survey stones after blocking entry to houses and a large project like this is not executed by putting the people in a difficult situation and it is not right to intimidate the people. A bench led by Justice Devan Ramachandran considered the case.

The court observed that they are not against conducting survey for the project but will not allow to install big concrete pillars to register the mark. The project can be implemented only legally. There should be no violation of law. The court posted the plea for January 20. The court demanded more clarity on centre's stand over the project. Although the lawyer who appeared for K Rail said the Centre had in principle approved the project, there is no clarity for it. The court also expressed dissatisfaction with the same counsel appearing for the centre and the railways. This was after pointing that two parties have two opinions.
