502 people took part in CPM's mega thiruvathira even though only 150 people are allowed in public events; complaint filed with police for violating Covid protocol

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram DCC vice president M Muneer has filed a complaint with the police against the 'mega thiruvathira' conducted in connection with the CPM Thiruvananthapuram district conference. In his complaint, Muneer alleged that Covid norms were violated in the event.

Several people had criticized the mega thiruvathira event. 502 people participated in the thiruvathira dance performed in the presence of various senior leaders including politburo member MA Baby. Many party leaders also criticized the decision to conduct the 'mega thiruvathira' while slain SFI leader Dheeraj Rajendran's mourning procession was going on.


As many as 502 people took part in the thiruvathira dance even though only 150 people are allowed in public events. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had also said that the program should have been avoided.
