ALAPPUZHA: KPCC president K Sudhakaran on Wednesday said that the murder of Dheeraj was a martyrdom that was asked for by the CPM. He said that Dheeraj was a martyr of the joint riots organised by the CPM, SFI and DYFI.

"The Left is not mourning the death of Dheeraj. Instead, they are celebrating by organising 'Thiruvathira'. Soon after hearing the news of Dheeraj's death, the CPM leaders in Kannur went on to purchase eight cents of land to construct a memorial of him. DYFI goons had camped at the hostel in Idukki Engineering College and planned an attack to prevent the success of KSU in the elections," Sudhakaran said.

"KSU was usually weak in engineering colleges and technical institutes. This time, my kids stepped up daringly and won in six out of the nine college elections. If the polls had taken place, KSU would have won in Idukki too," he added. Sudhakaran also accused MM Mani of threatening the district police chief who told the media about the truth behind violence in Idukki.

"Widespread violence is taking place under the pretext of protests. If Pinarayi Vijayan is not ready to restore the rule of law, this will be the last rule of the Left," Sudhakaran said.
