‘Day goddess of justice was murdered in courtroom’, says Lucy Kalappura after verdict

KOTTAYAM: Sister Lucy Kalappura respond to the court verdict acquitting Bishop Franco Mulakkal in the nun rape case. In a Facebook post, she said the day goddess of justice was murdered in the courtroom.

The court acquitted the bishop stating that the prosecution failed to prove the offence. The verdict was pronounced by Kottayam additional sessions court judge G Gopakumar.

Bishop Franco Mulakkal, along with his brothers Philip and Chacko, appeared in the court to hear the verdict. Public Prosecutor advocate Jitesh J Babu, then investigating officers DySP K Subhash and sub inspector Mohandas were also present in the court. Leaving the court after the verdict, Franco hugged his lawyers and burst into tears. Praise the god, was his only response.
