Covid: Five districts in Kerala record over 1000 cases on Friday; more than 3000 people infected in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state is once again witnessing a surge in Covid cases. Five districts have recorded more than 1000 cases on Friday. More than 3000 people were infected with the virus in both Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. While 3556 persons tested positive for Covid in Thiruvananthapuram, 3198 people were infected with the virus in Ernakulam.


District wise breakup of positive cases:

Thiruvananthapuram 3556, Ernakulam 3198, Kozhikode 1567, Thrissur 1389, Kottayam 1103, Kollam 892, Kannur 787, Pathanamthitta 774, Malappuram 708, Palakkad 703, Alappuzha 588, Idukki 462, Kasaragod 371, Wayanad 240.

The state confirmed 16,338 COVID-19 cases on Friday. Among these, 15,228 persons developed the disease through contact, including 859 cases without an identified source of infection. 68,971 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
