THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The nun who had lodged sexual abuse complaint against Bishop Franco Mulakkal will go public. Father Augustine Vattoly, a representative of 'Save Our Sisters', said this. He added that the survivor is in a broken state but she has taken a clear decision on this.

"The survivor will soon see the media and speak to the public and respond to the community without covering her face. The sister herself will make this clear. She will no longer hide her face and live behind closed doors. The survivor has decided to fight for justice. When I met Sister in person today, I understood that she would not remain silent anymore", Fr. Vattoly said.

The case alleges that Franco Mulakkal, the Bishop of Jalandhar, raped a nun 13 times at Kuravilangad convent from 2014 to 2016. The Kottayam Additional Sessions Court passed the verdict after a 105-day trial. Judge G Gopakumar delivered the verdict in a single line. Special Prosecutors Jithesh J Babu and Subin K Varghese appeared for the prosecution while advocates K Raman Pillai and CS Ajayan appeared for the defense.
