Two year old dies after falling into pond near his mother's family home in Cherthala

CHERTHALA: A two-year-old boy fell to his death in a pond nearby his mother's family home. Leo Jose, the only son of Jose Mathew and Geethu Paul, of Oliyapuram in Pallipuram met with his tragic death on Sunday. The incident took place at 9.30 am yesterday at Thekku Areeparambil in Cherthala.

The boy fell into a pond near Thekku Anchuthaikkal House in Cherthala. The boy went missing after he went with Geethu's father Jose Paul to a neighbour's house. The house and pond are next to the road. The boy's father, Jose Mathew, was washing his vehicle at the time. Jose suspected that someone had abducted the baby from his home. Locals launched search the place after this. The child was later found in the pool. He was rushed to hospital but could not be rescued. His body will be laid to rest at Tirunelveli Church Cemetery after the postmortem at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital mortuary. Jose Mathew is a pump operator at the Water Authority. Geethu Paul is an employee of a private company in Alappuzha.
