10 arrested for circulating obscene videos, pictures of children

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ten more people have been arrested for distributing child pornography. The arrested include IT employees, professionals and other officials. The inspection was conducted at 410 centres in the state as part of Operation P Hunt. During a search led by district police chiefs and cyber cell experts, 186 devices were seized. Mobile phones, modems, hard disks, memory cards and laptops used to copy and share pictures and videos were seized. Officials said pictures and videos of native children between the ages of five and 16 were circulated.

Most of those arrested are IT experts. They used secure methods to upload and download such images and videos. Some of these are being investigated for links to child trafficking gangs. This is based on suggestions from some of their chats. Cyberdome nodal officer ADGP Manoj Abraham said that those connected with the arrested persons are being monitored and strict action will be taken.
