THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is the police and politicians who are sabotaging the process of imprisoning goons under the Goonda Act as they have close ties with the goons.
Goons with political influence have not been included in the Goonda list. Otherwise, the officials will make mistakes in the information in the application to the Collector to impose the Goonda Act.
The collector cannot order for preventive detention if the details mentioned in the information are incorrect. Collectors are often influenced by politicians. If the collector takes action, the goons will manage to escape by filing appeals in the Kappa Board and the High Court.
The Goonda list will be prepared by some policemen. There will be loopholes in this list due to political-mafia pressure.
Certain senior police officers in the capital had stepped in to ensure that their 'dear ones' are not included in the list and that their sentences are not extended.
Police, who are nabbing criminals who have been named accused in more than two criminal cases, have been claiming that they have arrested 14,000 criminals in two weeks. However, several goons, who have political influence, are still roaming freely in the state.
