THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Covid-19 vaccine in schools for children of 15-17 years has begun. 967 vaccination centres have been organised in the state including 47 centres in Thiruvananthapuram. Health minister Veena George visited the vaccination centre at Manacaud Karthika Thirunal Government Girls’ School in Thiruvananthapuram.

Eight lakh students of the age group 15 -17 will be administered vaccines at their schools from today onwards. The responsibility of vaccine administration lies with the combined taskforce of health and education departments.

Those born in 2007 or before that are eligible to take the jab. The registration should be done in consultation with the school authorities. Schools with more than 500 students have been made session sites and are linked with the nearest vaccine centres. There will be a vaccination room, observation room and a waiting area. Parents should ensure that their children are vaccinated, said the health minister.
