Attempt to belittle issuance of title deeds will not succeed: KE Ismail

PALAKKAD: Former Revenue Minister and CPI leader KE Ismail has reacted to the cancellation of Raveendran Pattayams in Idukki. The title deeds were issued when Ismail served as Revenue Minister. Ismail said that any attempt to belittle the issuance of title deeds will not succeed. "The government should check whether illegal leases were issued. Any ineligible title deeds should be cancelled. The deeds were issued to a large number of poor people who were living in makeshift huts," Raveendran said.

"Back then, most of those who were issued title deeds had less than two cents of land. The CPM office also come under this. They were given more land," he added. Ismail supported MM Mani's stand that no one would be allowed to touch the CPM party office in Devikulam.

He also said that VS Achuthanandan's Munnar mission was wrong. "LDF had admitted that Achuthanandan's Munnar mission was wrong. The party has not discussed the new decision to cancel the title deeds. Big resorts that encroached land should be evicted, not the poor," Ismail added.
