KOCHI: The High Court of Kerala quashed the representation votes in SNDP elections. With this, all SNDP members will get voting rights. The court verdict comes in backdrop of the elections to be held on February 5.
As per the current SNDP voting system, a branch with 200 members can have one vote. There were around ten thousands votes allotted in a similar manner. This has now been quashed by the high court along with the Special Concession and Bylaw Amendment granted under the Companies Act of 1974.
‘’There are lakhs of members in the SNDP. We followed the current election method as it was not practical to conduct elections by including all the members’’, said Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan. ’’As of now, my only knowledge of the verdict is what is shown in the media. I will comment on the matter after getting the copy of the verdict’’ he added.
