Child marriage in Malappuram comes to light one year later, pregnant girl shifted to care centre

MALAPPURAM: An incident of child marriage has been reported in Malappuram. A 16-year-old from Malappuram got married a year ago and is currently six months pregnant. She was shifted to a care centre by Childline workers.

A man from, Vandoor married the girl a year ago. But the matter came to the notice of the Child Welfare Committee last day. The Child Welfare Committee then informed Childline and transferred the girl to a safe centre. The Child Welfare Committee has reported the incident to the police. Police said a case will be registered against the Vandoor native under the Child Marriage Prohibition Act and the POCSO Act.
