THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: VS Achuthanandan's office has stated that it will file an appeal against the court verdict to pay Rs 10 lakh compensation to Oommen Chandy for defamatory remarks related to the solar case. VS' office informed in a Facebook post that the court's verdict is illogical and that the court order was issued without considering the Judicial Commission report. The Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sub-Court yesterday ordered to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation in the defamation case filed by Oommen Chandy.

"Oommen Chandy did not appear in court or prove any of the face-to-face documents containing the statements made by the then Leader of the Opposition, VS. However, government officials have come forward to testify to the report of the Justice Sivarajan Commission appointed by Oommen Chandy. The VS's office said it would appeal against the esteemed sub-court judgment of 22/01/2022, which did not take into account any of these facts", VS' Facebook post reads.
