Case of distributing religious books and dates; consulate general, attaché to be given show cause notice

uae

The union ministry of foreign affairs granted permission to issue show cause notice to former consulate general and attaché of the UAE consulate.

The customs sought permission for further action from the union government as the consulate general and attaché have diplomatic protection. The customs have registered two cases for smuggling parcels via diplomatic channel.

The customs had questioned former minister K T Jaleel on the matter. The protocol officer of the state government was also summoned and questioned many times.

The customs had found then that things brought via diplomatic channel cannot be distributed outside and it was violation of law and illegal. This case and the dollar smuggling case were registered following the gold smuggling via diplomatic channel in the Thiruvananthapuram airport.
