THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George has said that although the spread of Covid is high, the severity of the disease is low. Currently, the use of ICU and ventilator is not increasing. The disease would subside by the second week of February, she said.

"Kerala's defensive strategy in the third wave is different. It is enough to go to the hospital only if it is necessary. Whenever possible, use teleconsultation. The services of retired doctors will be utilized for tele-consultation", the minister said.

"Doctors will be recruited for voluntary service for two months. Special care will be given to those in need. Only those who care for the Covid patient in close proximity will have to observe quarantine", she added.
