Madhu lynching case: Family seeks re-investigation, lawyer appointed by Mammootty to give legal advice

The family of Madhu, a tribal youth who was killed in a mob lynching at Attppady in Palakkad a few years ago, has sought re-investigation into the murder case. The family made the request to V Nandakumar, the lawyer appointed by Mammootty to provide legal advice in the case.

The special prosecutor was not present when the court considered Madhu's murder case last week. Following this, the Mannarkad court questioned the absence of the special prosecutor in the case. Soon, Madhu's family came up against the special prosecutor. The family also demanded that the case be investigated by the CBI.

Meanwhile, Special Prosecutor Advocate VT Raghunath had come up clarifying his position. Raghunath said that the delay in the trial was due to the delay in handing over digital evidence, including CCTV footage, to the accused. He added that he was no longer interested in continuing as a special prosecutor since people had raised suspicion against him.

The Director General of Prosecution then asked Madhu's family to nominate three names for the post of the special public prosecutor. However, the family has not yet announced a decision on the matter.
