Kerala records 52,199 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 29 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 52,199 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Among these, 44,956 persons developed the disease through contact, including 3740 cases without an identified source of infection. 3033 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 470 health workers contracted the disease on Wednesday.

41,715 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 3,77,823 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 29 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 56,100.

District wise breakup of positive cases:

Ernakulam 11,224, Thiruvananthapuram 5701, Thrissur 4843, Kozhikode 4602, Kottayam 4192, Kollam 3828, Malappuram 3268, Alappuzha 2939, Palakkad 2598, Pathanamthitta 2475, Kannur 2295, Idukki 1757, Wayanad 1602, Kasaragod 875.

1,24,611 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
