KOCHI: Following the intervention of the High Court, it has been decided to consider the trial proceedings in the Attapadi Madhu murder case earlier than the scheduled time. Earlier, the case was adjourned to March 26. Digital evidence and a copy of the charge sheet were handed over to the accused following criticism that the trial was protracted because digital evidence had not been handed over to the accused.
Madhu, son of the late Mallan of Mukkali Chintakki village, was apprehended by the locals on February 22, 2018, on charges of theft. He was brutally beaten to death by a mob for stealing food items from shops in the Mukkali area. Massive protests have erupted after footage of the mentally ill youth being attacked spread on social media.
