BENGALURU: The IPL auction has always surprised cricket fans. Sometimes, expected players may not get a big price, but unexpected cricketers will receive huge sums. The first day of the auction was not different either. Some players like Ishant Kishan received huge amount, while some players who were expected to receive small amounts were bought by the club for Rs 10 crore. Such players are:

1 Prasid Krishna

No notable achievements in the IPL. It was the first time he had been named in an IPL team as a substitute. He has played just seven ODIs and took18 international wickets for India. But Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 10 crore at this auction. There are only two reasons behind this. One is his bowling performance in the recent ODI series against the West Indies and his Man of the Match award. Second, as per reports, in match venue Mumbai, wickets are more likely to be favourable pace bowlers. Prasid is the second highest paid Indian bowler at auction.

2. Deepak Chahar

Chahar is the highest player in the auction. Chennai Super kings bought him for a whooping sum of 14 crores. In the previous auction held in 2018, CSK had invested only Rs 80 lakh for Deepak Chahar. But Chennai did not hesitate to spend Rs 14 crore for Deepak, who has become one of the key players in MS Dhoni's team through his stellar performances last season. However, Deepak's growth from Rs 80 lakh to Rs 14 crore was not expected.

3. Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran is known for his explosive batting style. But the reality is that his performance in the last matches has not been good. Therefore, not much sum was expected for him. But Pooran was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10.75 crore. The Kolkata Knight Riders also tried for him.

4. Wanindu Hasaranga

Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was another player who surprised with the bid. Hazaranga was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10.75 crore. His base amount was Rs 1 crore.
