KSEB security controversy: Discussion at the ministerial level tomorrow

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the protest led by ruling party unions against the KSEB chairman becoming controversial following the intervention of former minister MM Mani, Electricity Minister K Krishnankutty has convened a meeting of leaders tomorrow to resolve the issue as per the instructions of the Left Front. The meeting will be held at the minister's official residence at 2 pm.

Left Front Convener A Vijayaraghavan, CPI state secretary and Kerala Electricity Workers Federation president Kanam Rajendran and CITU state general secretary and CPM central committee member Elamaram Kareem will attend the meeting. Sources said that the LDF leadership is unhappy with the Left unions staging protests in the state public sector during the rule of the LDF. The leadership is also dissatisfied with the management and the leadership of the Front Left Union slandering each other. Moreover, the indefinite strike of the Samyuktha Samara Samithi is going to the point where the working system of KSEB itself is in disarray. This cannot be allowed in KSEB which belongs to the essential services category. Since the protest is being organised by Left unions, no stern action can be taken.

Minister Krishnankutty sought an explanation from KSEB chairman and managing director Dr B Ashok after he took to social media to lash out at former minister MM Mani. The Minister directed Power Secretary RK Singh to inquire into the contents of the note and submit an immediate report. Ashok responded to the minister by stating that he had not said anything against Mani and that he only said that there were some irregularities in the official level in allotting land for the Hydelourism project in Munnar. Minister Krishnankutty also said that the KSEB chairman had not said anything against the government or the LDF.
