THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Swapna Suresh, accused in the gold smuggling case, joined the High Range Rural Development Society in Palakkad, a NGO. Swapna Suresh joined office at the district office of HRDS India in Thodupuzha. She will be drawing a salary of Rs 43,000 per month. Soon after joining office, she sought some more time to reach the office citing personal and health issues.
High Range Rural Development Society is an NGO operating in rural tribal areas of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Assam and Jharkhand.
The society was established in 1997. It is headquartered at Chandra Nagar in Palakkad. Former IAS officer and BJP leader Dr S Krishna Kumar is the president of the society. Krishna Kumar, a former Congress leader and union minister, joined the BJP in 2019.
