THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government is considering governor's proposal to buy a new Mercedes Benz. The governor in writing has demanded the government to sanction Rs 85 lakh for this.
The present vehicle has covered 1.5 lakh km. According to VVIP protocol, the vehicle should be replaced after crossing one lakh kilometres. Pointing this, the governor sent a letter to the government for a new vehicle.
The government and the governor are not in good terms now. The governor had publicly expressed his difference of opinion in signing the Lokayukta Amendment Ordinance. The governor also harshly criticized the government over the appointment of ministers’ personal staff.
The government pacified the governor by approving two appointments in the governor’s office and removing K R Jyothilal, the secretary of the public administration, who had written a letter against the appointment of the governor's personal staff.
