THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday criticised that the activities of some employees of the Revenue Department were creating a bad name for the offices.

"Revenue employees are generally known for functioning well. However, some employees are bringing disrepute to other employees, the department, the government and the state. There should be a change in the approach of the employees," the CM said while inaugurating the Revenue Day celebrations at Ayyankali Hall.

"Revenue employees are getting a good salary. You should not think that you can earn income in any other way. Bribery is not the only corruption. Delay in making decisions and failure to process applications on time are also seen as corruption. Things should be done legally. Your duty is to serve people, not to hurt them. Investors or entrepreneurs are not enemies of the country. They should be treated in a friendly manner," Vijayan said.

"As part of the government's 100-day program, district-level fairs will be held in April-May and at least 30,000 people will be issued title deeds. The government had initially planned to issue 15,000 title deeds. The Revenue Department is targeting to issue 50,000 title deeds. There are three and a half lakh landless families in the state. Each family should be provided with at least 3 cents from surplus land. 10,500 acres of land is required for this. This land will be available with the settlement of 8200 cases in the Land Boards. With the cooperation of the minds and the work of the government, there won't be any landless people in the state," the CM added.

Minister K Rajan presided over the function and said that the complete digital survey would be completed within four years.

Ministers Antony Raju, MV Govindan Master, P Prasad, Roshy Augustine, K Krishnankutty, AK Saseendran, Ahamed Devarkovil, GR Anil, V Sivankutty, Shashi Tharoor MP, Mayor Arya Rajendran, Deputy Mayor PK Raju, Additional Chief Secretary Dr A Jayathilak and Land Revenue Commissioner K Biju were present.
