KOCHI: The Thadiyitta Police arrested a 27-year-old youth in the case of impregnating a 13-year-old of Madrassa School. He has been identified as Sharafudeen, a native of Tamil Nadu and helper of Madrassa teachers. The youth working in the Madrassa seduced and sexually abused the girl, who arrives early.

The girl of eighth standard is two months pregnant. He started exploiting her from November 2021. Police said he used to sexually abuse her after calling her to the Madrassa before class hours.

The incident came to light after a teacher took a class on menstruation in a biology period at the school last Monday. When the teacher said that if becomes pregnant, will not get regular periods, then the girl revealed to her friend that she is not menstruating. The friend shared the information with the teacher. The headmaster informed the Childline. She opened her mind in their counselling. Then informed the police and arrested the accused.

The girl was examined at the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital. Police said the girl talks contradictorily and is doubtful if anyone else is involved in the incident. A decision has been taken to conduct a DNA test.

Sharafudeen reached the madrassa as a helper seven years ago. He is staying in a rented house at Pattimattom Kummanode. Though he is from Tamil Nadu, he talks Malayalam fluently. He told police that he is a bachelor. The accused produced in the court has been remanded.
