Kollam native Suresh Kumar wins Mr India title at age 59

KOLLAM: 59 year-old Suresh Kumar, a retired employee won Mr. India title. Kollam native Suresh Kumar was selected as the 'Masters Mister India' in the 50 to 60 years age group category at the competition organised by Indian Body Building Federation in Pondicherry. Earlier he has won Mr. Kollam and Mr. Kerala titles but this is the first time he has been awarded the title of Mr. India.

Suresh Kumar, joined KSRTC as a conductor after passing ITI in Electrical Trade and Class X. He worked for three days and continued gym training in the remaining four days.

Although timing became an issue when he was promoted as Station master and as Inspector, he stayed at gym till 11 pm and continued training. He got more time to train after his retirement in 2020. During competitions, he does workout in the morning and evening for about 6 hours.

He follows a strict diet. He eats boiled chicken and eggs with unsalted garlic and ginger three times a day. 25-year-old Abhishek is his coach. Suresh is currently coaching at the Alien Gym at SN College Junction, Kollam. He is also preparing to compete at the international level . His wife Mini and children Shruthi and Anantha Krishnan, son-in-law Harikrishna and Dr. Kabani, supports him.

Body building is very expensive. Pension amount is my only income. I hope to win international competitions if I get sponsorship, said Suresh Kumar.
