Kalamandalam vice chancellor fails to appear directly despite governor’s request; gives letter citing reason

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kalamandalam vice-chancellor T K Narayanan fails to follow Governor Arif Mohammad Khan's direction to inform about the termination of PRO posts in Kalamandalam. Vice Chancellor Narayanan did not appear before the court today saying that it would be contempt of court to appear in person as a plea has been filed in the high court in the PRO case. He has written to the governor clarifying the matter.


Gopikrishnan, who was a PRO, was suspended earlier. The governor also the chancellor demanded that the suspension be lifted. However, the vice chancellor who was not ready for this, decided to terminate the post of PRO in Kalamandalam itself. Vice chancellor submitted a letter to the government informing about this. With this, the Governor asked the vice chancellor to appear in person. The vice chancellor had earlier filed a case against the governor in the high court. The case was withdrawn after the government intervened to soften the controversy.
