Tiger spotted near populated area in Wayanad; Forest Dept urges public to remain cautious

WAYANAD: A tiger has been spotted in a populated area near a mosque at Kalliyode near Mananthavadi. People noticed the tiger when the dogs in the area barked after seeing it. The tiger is said to be in a physically weak condition. The tiger was spotted in the area at around 11 am. Locals said that they saw the tiger limping through the Pilakavu Jesse estate.

Forest officials, led by North Wayanad DFO Darshan Ghattani, reached the spot and confirmed that the tiger was spotted. Rapid Action Force from Sultan Bathery and a doctor reached the spot and started searching for the tiger. The Forest Department has urged the public not to go to the area where the tiger was spotted.
