AMRITSAR: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will now rule Punjab. It was clear by 9 am soon after the counting started, that the Punjabi House has taken over AAP. If AAP had announced their arrival in Punjab for the second time in the last elections, this time it was completed by securing victory. The political situation in Punjab did not change overnight. Despite the rule of two major political parties for 70 years, the state had not benefited from it. It was at this point that the Aam Aadmi Party entered the fray by raising the Delhi model.
Kejriwal and Delhi model
The four trump cards taken by Kejriwal in Delhi attracted the people of Punjab to AAP. There is no doubt that the voters were influenced by better education at the government level, health, electricity and water at lowest possible rates.
Success youth wanted
We can say that youngsters specially women voters are behind the success of AAP. While campaigning Kejriwal had promised to eradicate corruption that plagued the state. He also ensured a radical transformation in the education and employment sectors in the state. There is no doubt that this attracted the people. The promise to deposit Rs 1000 in women's account every month also turned into a vote.
Bhagwant Mann as CM
The decision of AAP to field comedian Bhagwant Mann as its chief ministerial candidate was well received by the people.
