KOZHIKODE: 17 senior students of Kozhikode Medical College have been suspended for ragging first-year MBBS students. The principal suspended second and third-year students for 14 days. The incident related to the action took place on March 15. Students complained to the principal that they had been ragged by senior students. The action is based on the inspection report submitted by the Anti-Ragging Committee comprising three professors.
A similar incident had taken place at Kozhikode Medical College before. Jithin Joy, a PG first-year student of the Ortho section, stopped studies at Kozhikode Medical College due to ragging. Jithin complained that the senior students mentally abused him and forced him to work without even being allowed to rest. He gave the complaint after moving to another college.
